Satin

"I'm here to pick up some live cargo from Canberra", I asked the air freight baggage handler at the airport terminal. "That would be some rabbits", he replied with a smile on his face.

I peered through the crate with anticipation and back at me peered four sets of frightened eyes. My love affair with Satin rabbits began.

Satins are a fur breed and great for getting started in the showing of rabbits. They are medium in size, relatively free of problems and have easy care coats.

How can I tell a good Satin ?

The best way of telling a good Satin is to have a jolly good feel of its coat.

It should be soft and lustrous with a good amount of density. The coat should roll back when you firmly stroke the coat from rump to neck. The coloured ones generally have less dense coats than the ivory (white). The colour should be rich and should be evident close to the skin.
